    Black pepper, known as the "King of Spices," is the most widely used spice globally, with major producers including Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, and Brazil. India, particularly Kerala, is home to over 10 unique pepper varieties. Sri Lanka primarily cultivates Ceylon pepper, which is known for its superior flavor and pungency, despite being less common in the market. Ceylon pepper has the highest percentage of naturally occurring piperine, a compound that gives black pepper its spicy taste and enhances the bioavailability of nutrients and drugs.

    Ceylon turmeric

    Turmeric varieties can differ significantly based on geography, particularly in their curcumin content. Curcumin is a natural compound found in the rhizome of turmeric, contributing to its bright yellow color and many of its therapeutic properties.

    In Sri Lanka, the Curcuma longa variety has a notably high level of naturally occurring curcumin, exceeding 6%. This variety is characterized by its deep orange color and is commonly referred to as Ceylon turmeric or red turmeric.

    There are three main species of Cinnamomum that are commonly used as cinnamon spices, each with distinct flavors. Cinnamomum verum, also known as "true cinnamon" or Ceylon cinnamon, is primarily sourced from Sri Lanka. The other two popular varieties are Cassia and Saigon, which contain higher levels of coumarin, a potential liver toxin.

    True/Ceylon cinnamon is native to Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka produces 80–90% of the world's supply.

    Among them, the most well-known  Zingiber officinale is called common culinary ginger which is commonly available in the market worldwide.

    Depending on the geography, there are many common culinary ginger varieties cultivated in sub-tropical parts of the world. They are quite different from one another, especially the size of the rhizome, flavour, aroma, and pungency.

     Among them, Chinese Ginger, Indian Ginger, and Jamaican Ginger are mainly in the market.
